How will you give me what I want?

Bernardo Magaña & Rafael De La Cruz purchased El Sol de Mexico in March of 1999. At the time, Rafael was the co-owner of another restaurant in Corvallis, El Tapatio, where Bernardo was the head chef. Together, they decided to purchase the old Mazzi’s Italian restaurant located just off 9th & Garfield. This allowed Magaña and De La Cruz to design a restaurant with their shared vision. The result is a beautiful tile and stucco masterpiece that reflects the design found in the Mexican state of Jalisco, where they both grew up.

In 2007, a new chapter began at El Sol De Mexico, when Rafael sold his part of the El Tapatio restaurant. He and Bernardo agreed that having two El Sol de Mexico locations in Corvallis would be a winning adventure. Each location though, still maintains its uniqueness, which make each restaurant charming in its own way.
